    The Polar Regions are too cold to support a variety of life. However, scientists have discovered life forms that thrive in this cold environment, and they term the polar oceans as important in maintaining a balance on earth. The amount of water frozen in these regions can be destructive if melted nod released to the warm waters. The McMurdo station is a destination for many scientists to conduct their studies on the waters and the life forms that survive in the cold environment (Nold, 2002). However, that stations fecal waste management is posing a threat to the organisms living in water as well as to the scientists themselves.
