There has been many issues involving the Somali pirates and their very dangerous business they are in but as of right now their isn't much that you can do to help the issue get resolved. The hijacking of the MV Maersk Alabama and the kidnapping of Capitan Phillips were one of the most tense and very dangerous times in a rescue. The Somali pirates had to take a couple of try's to get to and board the MV Maersk Alabama. On April 7th 2009 the U.S maritime administration realized a warning that there is an advisory to stay 600 nautical miles off the coast of Somalia(2017 , fighting piracy). On April 8th 2009 a group of Somali pirates were spotted coming near the ship, as they kept coming closer Capitan Phillips did one of two things: make a fake call to someone saying “ we are on our way” (massad ayoob, 2015)which was supposed to be a diversion for the Pirates to turn around and go back and it worked the pirates turned around and the other way to fend off the pirates was as soon as they got closer the ship they turned on the ships bulge pumps ( areas in the ship or on any boat where water that has built up on the ship or boat and let's the water out) when the ship turned on the water high amounts of water pressure forced the pirates to go into defensive mode and dodge the water(greengrass, 2013).
