Tobacco, may be the world’s largest commodity. It is popular worldwide regardless of the detrimental effects on one’s health. The cash crop from the New World, traveled across the Atlantic to Europe and Asia. The time that tobacco was introduced in these places is crucial to understanding its foothold in society. “Tobacco: The Dry Inebriant” by Wolfgang Schivelbusch traces the evolution of tobacco in Europe. still at gunpoint, Bryan is knocked unconscious from behind. He awakens suspended from a pipe just below the ceiling. He admits to the Englishman, Saint Clair, that he is the last girl's father. Saint Clair says, "too bad. It's business and she is sold already." He then orders his henchmen to execute Bryan quietly and leaves the room. Despite being shackled to the overhead pipe, Bryan manages to break the pipe loose and escape while killing the guards. Bryan meets the surprised Saint Clair…
road, through a culvert pipe. The culvert pipe seemed so big, but I am not sure that it would still seem big now. We would go down the small bank on one side of the road and pop out on the other, jumping into the little water hole that didn’t go much over my thighs. My favorite part was after it rained. The creek would always be running just a little faster than normal; that was the best time to play! We could bring down our little tubes and slide out of the culvert pipe, which dropped off a…

The New Jersey Chamber Singers and the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Symphonic Choir performed a choral concert, Psalms from Age to Age, located at The Presbyterian Church of Toms River. This performance by both of these choirs was impressive, as well as organized due to the talent and easy flow between each song. This performance was in a beautiful church with stained glass windows; the windows provided a sense of colorful light inside of the church, which I loved. The inside of the church…
from the situation. Soto makes the final allusion to religion when he “(presses) his ear… to a cold pipe,” and waits for God to communicate with him (81). Throughout the passage he consistently mentions the cold pipe to indicate his “proximity to God” (15). He feels that this is how God communicates with him, and warns him before committing sin. As a result of stealing the pie, Soto looks to the cold pipe as a way of…
We All Cause Pollution Pollution is a major issue in our society. What causes pollution is important because it allows us a way to prevent future damage. I chose to do my project on the Pyro board which is an adaptation of the Rubens tube. The Pyro board uses fire to demonstrate sound waves. I chose this as my project because I find music and fire fascinating. Having them interact to demonstrate the physics side of sound helped me understand all the different aspects that can effect sound waves and alter the way we interpret them. Before I started to build my Pyro board I did research on how they worked why they worked and why the flames reacted…
mixture. The yeast and water cause the corn to ferment which makes it combustible. Once it is fully fermented it is then cooked while still in the water. It is cooked to where the water evaporates and the steam is collected. The steam is funneled into pipes that are cooled so that it turns back into a liquid and collected. The liquid that is collected is ethanol. There is also another way to make ethanol. This way is less traditional but twice as productive. The first step is to make big tubs…
