causes the host’s buffers to fill while waiting for SYN/ACK from the client. If the buffer overfills, then no more incoming connections can be accepted and subsequent network traffic is severely degraded, or even blocked entirely. Hands-On Project: 11-3 Examining the resulting file created for the previous two projects, the differences between the two attacks can easily be seen. Example results for both of these attacks are shown in Appendix B, figures 13 and 14. The echo flood attack described in the first task, serves to overwhelm the victim with a flood of echo requests. In ‘Chapter_11_Projects.pcap’ we can see that there were hundreds of thousands of echo requests sent in a short period of time. If the victim is not set up to block ping requests, then not only are their systems dealing with the incoming requests, but they also must generate more traffic replying to the requests. In the second task, where the half-open SYN attack was performed. We can see the traffic contains SYN requests, followed by SYN/RST requests. The SYN requests are sent on different ports causing the host to be unable to know which are valid. The host waits for commands that never come, blocking other users from making valid three-way SYN/SYNACK/ACK handshakes with the host. Conclusion By performing all the required tasks contained within Week 4’s lab, it was discovered that there are many important things to consider for both Trojan horses and DoS attacks. First, hashes are a great…

would become know as “Ping Pong” diplomacy. It was so named after the United States ping-pong team was invited to the Chinese capital in April of 1971. CHAPTER THIRTEEN The House of Creepy Mr. Ping-Pong I sat on the floor doused in yellow liquid moonlight mingled with shadows, waiting. But for what? A chance to escape? The window was hopeless—small and too high for me to reach. For someone to rescue me? That was unlikely to happen. No one knew where I was. I’m trapped, I thought. In silence—ensnared by insatiable psychos. The door creaked open, and standing in front of me was a tall, muscular man with spiked hair and a smile that was all top…

James Alefantis was just an average restaurant owner. He had some quirky concepts and a politically significant ex-husband, but nothing alarming. That all changed with “Pizzagate,” a political scandal surrounding his pizzeria, Comet Ping Pong. At first glance, Comet Pizza is nothing special. It is described as a “hipster-heavy pizza parlor in the Upper Northwest with rough concrete walls, bathrooms hidden behind secret panels, and table tennis galore” (qtd. in Comet Ping Pong), but Comet Pizza…

Ping. Pong. Ping. Pong, Whack! This is what someone would hear if they came into my basement while I had a friend over. Table tennis, in my opinion, is the easiest of the fun sports. No running, no jumping, and all spectacularly granted with being indoors. The reason I love ping pong is because it allows me to use my hands. Nearly any activity I like to do involves using my hands. Whether it's solving a Rubik’s cube as quickly as possible, or putting a computer together piece by piece. My left…

that USSR was no longer fully reliable. I watched the performance of Ping Chong + Company’s Beyond Sacred: Voices of Muslim Identity on Saturday, November 19th in Campbell Hall. The interview-based theater production was about the real experiences of five young Muslim New Yorkers from various social and racial backgrounds post-9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City. During this time, Islamophobia was increasing so Muslims in the US were discriminated. The performers each took turns discussing their stories regarding growing up Muslim…

Part #1.- Adian and I created a carrier for two Ping-Pong balls that look like pair of glasses. To make this model we used four rectangular prisms and a cube. We used two long and skinny rectangular prisms to make the two temples of the glasses, and we used two rectangular prisms to make the two lenses. Then, we made a cube to be the bridge of the pair of glasses. We selected these shapes because when put together they resemble a pair of glasses, and we were familiar with the shapes. We also…
