New Mexico Military Institute, home of the Broncos and the little Colts, carries a tradition in which every student becomes a cadet in the Corps of Cadets. It holds some of the finest programs that can be taught such as Astronomy, Physics, Math, English, Choir, and Science. One course, in particular, is the Early Commissioning Program (ECP) of the SROTC department. There is even a tradition known as "RAT Week" in which newcomers must go through known as RAT Week. The ECP is independent aside from the Corps of Cadets in which it has its own squadron known as the "Garry Owen Squadron" and Cadre to learn from. With this given fact, cadets in both the Corps and ECP tend to have a struggle at times when there are activities for both. I happen to be one of those cadets. Although my priority is the ECP program, I still have obligations to fulfill in the Corps of Cadets. I am a different person in the ROTC and the Corps of Cadets. I tend to be more serious when it comes to the ROTC and a little loose at the Corps. ROTC is my career so I have to be active and alive. Even Brigadier General Combs defined the caliber of officers of the Army looks for. She also stated that "the Army wants adaptive and critical thinkers." Consequently, the purpose and goal of the ROTC is to prepare those future leaders by training them throughout their college career so it plays off of each other. It is only natural why I act so serious and stern at ROTC. It does happen at times when I do not really…

This allows the illusion of a greater span rather than a stress on verticality and height. There is a logical hierarchy established moving up the building, represented by a gradient of one consistent material in increasingly smaller stone with more refined joints. Three large, rounded arch doors are inset deeply in the facade, making the walls appear very thick and grounded. Mirrored on either side of the trio are five evenly spaced, rectangular windows, elevated over a thick base that yet again…

quote details how Bernini used the general quadrarc design of the Colosseum, the huge secular oval less than two miles away, as a form giver for his plaza. The harmony of a quadrarc due to the diagonal ratio is the perfect fit for a plaza that is attempting to draw attention to the power of St. Peter’s Basilica, just as the quadrarc for the Colosseum was the perfect design for the masses to watch their entertainment. Another feature of the Colosseum that reappears in later designs is the…

Directional lines are used by artists to direct the viewer to a specific part of the painting. In Degas’s The Dance Class, he directs our attention to the background first. The slight diagonal and contrasting colors of the wall makes it a distinctive feature of the painting, and this is what I noticed first. One can follow that line to the back wall and see many ballerinas. After that, the focus is shifted to the directional line on the floor that leads to the focal point of the painting.…

Mission Santa Barbara art mainly consisted of its gardens, architecture, and statues. The works of art and statues in the church and museum display angels, saints and Bible stories. The small statues of St. Dominic and St. Francis are particularly fine figures whose faces display a feeling of emotional intensity which is usual of baroque art. The church is similar to those built in Mexico in the mid 1800's. It is principally neoclassical in style, consisting of the enriching devices and features…
