    ‘A breath of fresh air’, ‘love is like a rose’, and ‘slept like a baby’, are all phrases that are immediately recognized as problematic clichés. Many words and phrases in the English language has either lost their original meaning, or has been replaced with something new and, at times, inappropriate. A classic example is from one of Aristotle’s thirteen fallacies; “begging the question.” “Begging the question” is a fallacy in which a type of rationalizing implicates an answer to a question with a questionable reply. However, it is being used today so that “beg” is interchangeable with “raise”, which totally alters the original meaning. Because of this, it has to be determined whether or not “begging the question” has lost its uniqueness of the text and has become just another problematic cliche of the English language.…
