“Lee Bui!” her professor hollered into the microphone, signifying Lee to receive her degree. She stood up with pride and carefully held onto her black graduation cap. As she walked down the Husky Stadium, all eyes were on her. Her family, her friends, and her professors were all gleaming with excitement. This concluded her journey as a scholar and established a new chapter in her life. But what is the rest of her story? Lee Bui, 25, wore a ponytail as high as the heavens and an enthusiastic expression on her face. Despite her busy life, she happily agreed to participate in this interview. When she answered, she spoke with a clear voice as she recalled her memories. We started right at the beginning. Before spending four years as a university student, she had to apply to a plethora of schools. “I applied to the University of Washington, UCLA, Eastern Washington University, Western Washington University, Pacific Lutheran, and Seattle University,” she said. She then made the decision to spend the four years of her life in The University of Washington. While she was there, she majored in Sociology of Science and Social Work. “I had the interest in working with kids and the interest of how people interact with one another,” she explains. However, “I would definitely change it to something that I could find a better career in, such as an engineer,” she elaborated, “I've always had the love for mathematics.” But in the end, it all worked out.
