    I have always felt oppression from society and mass media which had a negative impact on me being a person of colour. Every image on every billboard I saw and commercial I watched was someone of a lighter skin complexion, and it left an image in my mind stating that being white was superior to everyone else. I even vividly remember moments when I would disregard everything that had to do with my skin colour or my heritage at the sight of a white person.
