Himself could save them of out of their wicked ways. This was obviously not the belief of every colonist and soldier, but there were not many who thought very highly of the Indians. This would ultimately lead to such killings and massacres of innocent Indians similar to what the Paxton Boys committed. These men, who were mostly of Scots-Irish descent (page 136), were determined to take revenge for the killings of their fellow frontiersmen and others who died at the hands of the Indians. But to the Paxton Boys, the evil deeds of the savage Indians were so severe, that in order to take revenge, any Indian would suffice to appease their anger. Their hatred and animosity towards all Indians would ultimately lead them to kill a small tribe of friendly and otherwise clean handed Indians. Obviously, this led to much debate and discussion of the Paxton Boys actions, as to whether or not their actions were necessary. Many people argued, one of which was Benjamin Franklin (page 136), that the Paxton Boys were the real savages of the frontier and their actions were appalling ,and a very unnecessary way to try and showcase their anger towards the Indian people. Others, of course, argued in favor of the Paxton boys, denying any Indians of their innocence. One of the aforementioned massacres that occurred during the Seven Years’ War, was the Fort William Henry Massacre.
