Phillip Dowd has a Narcissistic and Paranoid personality disorders. He was only concerned with himself and things that would personally benefit him. He has problems creating and maintaining relationships with his coworkers because he is only concerned with himself. Dowd, also frequently talked down to everyone and believed he was a superior being. This caused him to frequently lose jobs. Combine his disorder with his need to be a savior, it led him to being physical harm to others in order to satisfy his inflated ego and Hero Syndrome. When he saved the victims it would make him seem like he is better than everyone around him. He also, had Paranoid personality disorder. “Symptoms of paranoid personality disorder (PPD), characterized by maladaptive suspiciousness and distrust in the absence of psychotic symptoms, are associated with role impairment, substance dependence, and poor social functioning” (Locavino et al, 2014).
