In 1947, a young shepherd of the Ta’amireh tribe was looking for a lost sheep when he came upon a cave in Qumran near the Dead Sea. What he would find inside of this cave would change the way scholars look at Judaism and early Christianity forever. An unusual finding, he saw clay jars containing old scrolls inside of the cave. The shepherd did not know the true value of these scrolls until much later, but he gathered the seven scrolls up and sold them to antiques dealers in Bethlehem. This…
Abstract: Cleopatra was a very smart and an intelligent commander. Despite her abilities and effort, she failed which made her life hopeless rather than glamourous. Ptolemy forces her to leave Alexandri and go to Syria. This is where Cleopatra goes and raises a Roman Military. She then goes to the…
My people of choice are the ancient Egyptians. The Egyptians that once lived along side the Nile River. And the same Egyptians who were known for being great builders and inventors. There we’re a wonderful race of people. Egyptians are of great interest to me, partially because of great movies that were created based on them and their ways of life. “Ancient Egypt stood as one of the world’s most advanced civilizations for nearly 3,000 years.” (Evan Andrews, History Lists) The Nile River which…
In this art study, the affect of contemporary museum culture in the United States, Europe, and Egypt define the exhibition trend of “replicating the real” in terms of spatial exhibitions of historical artifacts from Egypt. In the United States, I found the Metropolitan Museum of Art presentation of the Temple of Dendur as an example of the internalized exhibition of ancient Egyptian culture in a large-scale urban environment. In a similar manner, the Louvre presents large rooms with Egyptian…
occupation. It was mainly for the upper class who had enough money to pay for their kids to go to school where they would learn reading and writing. The Egyptians were unlike the Mesopotamians in the crops that they planted. The most common ones were papyrus, which was used for writing and paper, barley, which was used for beer and cereals, and fruits and vegetables which were used for eating and trading. The surplus was sold to neighboring countries for money much like Mesopotamia, only that…

To fully understand Sophocles’ play, the context must be explained. Oedipus the King takes place in mythological ancient Greece. In the city of Thebes, the events of this play happen all in a single day. In front of the Palace of Thebes, the people of this day are experiencing a famine in the land. An oracle tells that this famine is present because the murderer of the old king, Laius, has not been found and subsequently punished. In this age, it is important to note that the people of ancient…
The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 19440s which was made of a trove of parchment and papyrus an Israel cave in Israel in the 1940s were dated back in between 150 B.C. and A.D. 70. Some part of the scrolls mentions that “teacher of righteousness.” In which people argue that it implies Jesus Christ as the righteous teacher. An ossuary is the…

Cancer can also spread to different areas of your body. Cancer is not a contagious disease. However, cancer can be genetic or it can be by not keeping your body healthy. Cancer normally is a very long process. Sometimes it has a positive outcome and sometimes it has a negative outcome. If it has a negative outcome from cancer, then that…
Greek leaders in traditional Egyptian garb and adornments. Such procedures were done in order to assimilate the Ptolemies into the culture of their kingdom and legitimize their reign as true pharaohs. Even women, who were usually omitted from ancient works, are captured in Ptolemaic art. This represents a gradual acceptance and reevaluation of the female as an individual, as depictions of Ptolemaic queens in Egyptian headpieces were carved into stone tablets. Poetry became another effective…
