movies. No one ever really thinks about those heroes that are in your favorite TV shows or Romantic Comedy movies or even heroes found in your everyday life. Each hero is different and fall into one of the following categories; modern, conventional, tragic, and byronic hero. Jim Halpert from the show The Office is a paper salesman working at Dunder Mifflin. Jim Halpert is a conventional hero who has shown us that patience is the key to success. Jim Halpert has all the characteristics of a conventional hero. He is self-sacrificing, appreciated, and acts for the good of all throughout the entire show. Pam is the one who genuinely appreciates Jim for all that he’s done for her. He is largely known for being self-sacrificing because he sets his own feelings aside. In the Harvard Business Review case study Is the Rookie Ready? by Sarah Green we see a company faced with a big, much needed, opportunity (Green, 2009). The company has been hired to do a system upgrade for Hybara Casino. For the purpose of this assignment I have chosen to assess the conflict from Tim O’Connell’s point of view. Old conventions change slowly. For instance, severe social problems—religious groups’ pessimistic perspective on homosexuality or people’s unregenerate perspective of racism—cannot change within a few years. Likewise, old habits never go away from people’s unconscious routines, same as crumpling up a piece of paper with one hand. When most people believe that breaking habits is as hard as breaking a rock with a drop of water, Charles Duhigg, the author of The Power of Habit, claims that habits…

is a “documentary” about a paper company called Dunder Mifflin in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The characters that I chose to analyze are Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer), and Michael Scott (Steve Carell). Dwight Schrute works at Dunder Mifflin as a sales representative. He wears the same type of clothes everyday, a mustard-colored dress shirt, dark tie, and a brown suit jacket. He is a tall, skinny, white male, and he has short brown hair.…

Upon their collective laughter waking him up, Michael joins in, clueless but eager to be part of the joke. When he inquires about the punchline, Pam says that "you had to be there," leading Michael to misinterpret it as a joke about geography. This moment showcases the show's clever use of dramatic irony, where the audience is privy to the actual joke, finding humor in Michael's cluelessness and his attempt to fit in, further enriching the comedic experience for viewers. Suspense also plays a…

As per David Gauntlett in his content Media, Gender and Identity: An Introduction, before, "Female characters were unrealistic to work, particularly not on the off chance that they were wives or moms, and notwithstanding when they did this work was not ordinarily seen on screen" (47). Nevertheless, the fundamental setting of "The Office" is a workplace, and a few women are depicted. Phyllis, Meredith, Pam, Kelley and Angela are all depicted as working women. It is fascinating that of these women…

understand the world and the status quo” (Fiske, 2011). Jan Levison, “The Ice Queen”, is the chaotic, short-tempered, and erratic Vice President of Dunder Mifflin in The Office. Jan’s powerful and dominant personality becomes problematic as the show goes on. Through her exaggerated character and actions, the only female in a position of authority in the show begins to spiral and suffer several downfalls. University of California Professor of Film and Media Mary Ann Doane has argued that “an…

“There 's a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isn 't that kind of the point?” (Pam Beesly/Halpert). An ordinarily unordinary life with a combination of my parents life before me, big moments, and small instances has shaped me into the person I am today. Born into a happy family, I was surrounded by loving people through every single move we made. In between moves, my family connected through numerous family vacations throughout the country and beyond. As I grew up, I had the classic issues with…
