In the beginning of the book Wansink takes the time to explain that this is not a diet book because “diet books focus on what dieticians and health practitioners know”, while his book focuses on what “psychologist and marketers know”. Although they are both backed by science and research one is much more simple for the average person to execute. The concept behind studying the exact reason why people over eat or eat mindlessly is a very different notion than just studying how one should eat, and that is what made this book so interesting. Throughout the book the reader will lean how easily it is for food companies to trick consumers into overeating, this occurring without really even realizing it. Also, the reader will learn how to identify and remove the hidden cues that we briefly discussed earlier that cause overeating. The reader will be shown how to organize your kitchen in a way that benefits the reader without even noticing and to be more aware of what they are eating without giving up the thing we want to eat. This book, being under 300 pages, was a very quick and easy read. The writing was very light, humorous and witty while also being very professional and also getting to the point. There were not very big science words but was also very scientifically accurate that were hard to understand which also made the read easier than first expected.
