Out of the Silent Planet A Take on Philosophy In Out of the Silent Planet we see the bent, the broken, and the bold and how each of them holds a standard on the value of life. The character Weston was a physicist, obsessed with the idea of living forever. Later in the book Oyarsa (a sort of spirit entity) says that Weston has been “bent by the Bent One”. Bent is the Malecandrian word for bad or evil, meaning that in the sense of an allegory Weston had been corrupted by Satan. Satan being “the Bent One”. Ransom, the main character, had been walking when he found a woman in distress waiting for her son to come…

That Hideous Strength In the books “Out of the Silent Planet” and “Perelandra by C.S. Lewis he uses kind of the same way of thinking. We see it also in the continuation of his trilogy, in the novel “That Hideous Strength” also written by C.S. Lewis. He uses the same writing style, one that at first I couldn’t understand. I had to go back and reread some parts to comprehend what he was saying and kind of figure out the deeper meaning of things. Throughout the book, Lewis uses a different kind of…
