    Otto Frank’s life, before, during, and after the Holocaust was difficult. Otto Frank was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on May 12, 1889. He had three siblings. Otto’s dad ran a bank. Otto went to college at Heidelburg to study art history. He also studied economics. A class mate set him up for an internship at the Macy’s Department store in Manhattan, New York. A few weeks after he made it to America his father passed so, he went back home for the funeral. Frank came back to America and spent two years working at Macy’s and then a bank. Otto then returned back to Germany in 1911. He then started working for a company that made window frames. While World War I was going on, Otto Frank worked for a business that made horse shoes for the German army. He was sent to the Germany military. He reached the ranking of Lieutenant, during the war. After the war ended, he took control of his dad’s bank. In 1936, Mr. Frank continued his business career by founding the Opekta company and made his second company Petacon. On May 12, 1925, Otto married his first wife. Her name was Edith Hollander. They had two children together, Anne Frank and Margot Frank.
