Finally, there are active alumni groups where students can gain support from one another and the organization, and the university can leverage the alumni organization for financial or prospectus support. Therefore, the concept of alumni organizations, similar to universities, become appealing to organizations because of the wealth of knowledge the employees have gained. Alumni networks are an effective social network because their shared histories and common values, creating a higher level of interaction and longer standing relationships (Cohen & Malloy, 2010). Organizations should form alumni organizations to mentor current employees and aid in their development and advancement. The alumni likely know the same people as the current employees and can immediately connect with challenges they currently have (Cohen & Malloy, 2010). Additionally, these alumni organizations can be leveraged to aid the organization on a potential contract basis when their specific skillsets are highly sought after.
