    Peter Ediger was important to the Nevada test site because he was one of the founding committee members of the Pace e Bene which was a nonviolence service. His committee was in charge of fighting against the test site to try and stop the bombing going on. Ediger and three other people, Louis Vitale, Alain Richard, and Julia Occhiogrosso, started the committee in the mid-eighties and got groups of people together to shut down the Nevada test site. Ediger is a religious man, which many people were during that time. He main ideal was that God did not want the test site to do what it was doing because it was harming his followers. Before Ediger arrived on the scene there were some protest going on against the test site. These people were the citizens of Nevada who wanted to live in the desert in peace. They did not want to be radiated so close to their homes. When Ediger joined later on he wanted to make sure everything was organized against the test site, but they were still not taken seriously. No one saw the harm in making and testing the nuclear weapons because the government stated that these weapons are being constructed to protect the American people. If nuclear weapons were being made to protect America then why should they stop? Many Americans opinion changed when there was a nuclear convention in 1989 and a man from Russia spoke out against the nuclear weapons.
