1979 and give an overview of the 2011 NATO-led “Humanitarian Intervention” (Intervention) in Libya. I will examine the stated motivations behind the NATO-backed Intervention that ultimately resulted in regime change. I will explain President Barack Obama’s motivations to move forward with the intervention, as well as his current state of mind on Libya. In addition, I will explain Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s motives at the time of the intervention, and then her reasons as revealed in her recently released emails, as well as her recent thoughts on the matter. Similarly, I will show the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister David Cameron’s interests in joining in the NATO-led coalition and the motivating factors that France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy felt were appropriate to achieve through the use of the Intervention. Furthermore, I will provide an analysis of the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine that the UNSC invoked to authorize NATO allies to intervene militarily in Libya’s affairs under Resolution 1973. Finally, I will provide insight to the current state of affairs in Libya to provide a clear contrast to the situation prior to the NATO coalition. In conclusion, I will explain why I feel that those involved in Operation Unified Protector are responsible for Libya’s current humanitarian catastrophe, destabilization, and the killing of Gaddafi, and the evidence that led me to that conclusion. Joan Scott’s book Politics of the Veil assesses the implications of the French government’s ban on clothing and religious signs, in particular, the wearing of veils in public schools. In the book she discloses the French government's argument for banning the headscarf which she contends with her own assertion by exploring factors such as racism, postcolonial guilt and fear among many other things. In my study, I am particularly interested in exploring the contradictory nature of the ban as it…

Step in the Arena I suppose it was only a matter of time until we were presented with Luke’s origin story, but I appreciate the show’s forethought into giving it such a well-timed placement within the overall narrative. By waiting until now, Luke Cage avoided feeling too similar to many other superhero stories that can’t resist showing us a character’s history right away. Had it waited any longer, it could have run the risk of putting too much distance between the audience and the action…

things that I enjoyed at the museum and to pick one favorite would do the museum injustice. I enjoyed the beautiful building that the artwork is held in, the ease and accessibility of all the artwork, the friendliness of the people working within and the cost. The only negative thing I can possible say is that there is just not enough time in one day to absorb everything that MIA as to offer and I wish I would have had three solid days. France was forced to an armistice with the Germans after they were invaded in 1940. Charles de Gaulle fled to England and made the Appeal of 18 June against the armistice pleading for the French to continue to fight and not give up their independence. General De Gaulle stated, “It may therefore be said that this armistice would not only be a capitulation, but that it would also reduce the country to slavery. Now, a great many Frenchmen refuse to accept either capitulation or slavery, for reasons…
