Subject: Are You Your Brother’s Keeper? Genesis 11:26-32 11: 26-32 Tarah was seventy years old and he had three sons, Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran was the father of Lot, Milcah, and Iscah. Haran dies in the land of Ur of the Chaldees. Abram married Sarai and Nahor married Milcah his brother Haran's daughter. The family left Ur and traveled Northwest along the Euphrates River Valley to Haran and then southwest toward Canaan this was the trade route to missing the Arabian Dessert which was very dangerous as it still is today. Proposition: Tarah was the head of the family even though God gave Abraham the vision he remained faithful to his father until his death, then he continued the mission God had given him. How many of you grew up with the head of the family being your grandfather and then your father but no decision overrode what your grandfather said. You see some of our four fathers followed the path of the Bible for that was all they knew, so the family fell in line with whatever the head of the family said for it was like the gospel. Introduction (Antithesis): Stories explain what natural words cannot, stories have power, they teach, motivate, and sometimes inspire the listeners. Jesus spoke in parables and sometimes told…

that he was provided with the skills to write the book from his Egyptian education and by being the adopted son of Pharaoh’s daughter. Moses had access to patriarchal family records which were preserved by being written on clay tablets. The Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is influenced by heavy modern cultures but the inhabitants are still loyal to the ancient traditions of their ancestors whose blood runs through their veins. Habitation of Nepal began thousands of years ago as a native asian tribe known as the Kirat migrated to the land of Nepal. “The ancestors of this tribe if identified,…

Leah is mentioned in Genesis 29:1-35. She is the daughter of Laban and sister to Rachel. She also one of Jacob’s wives, with her sister. Her story is somewhat of a depressing one, but one that we all can learn from. It is a story of depiction and feeling unloved and unwanted. She also has a very interesting connection to Mary. Her story begins actually with Jacob. Jacob comes to the land of the Kedemites, and he comes across a well. The well had a large stone covering the mouth of it. The…

In these two situations Sarah, the woman, is given very little positive characterizations, but Abraham is afforded emotions of concern, kindness and worry (positive emotions). Some could argue that of course Abraham would feel those emotions because Ishmael is his son. However, Abraham still allowed for Hagar to be treated harshly and kicked Ishmael and Hagar out but he is not defined by those moments. However, in my open interpretation of the text feel that Sarah is defined by these two…

things I learned was about Abraham’s life before he was called to follow God. I had no idea about anything before his life with God. One thing that I have never noticed in the story of Abraham is the lack of childhood. “Most of the major characters in the historical line of the Bible are introduced as children, infants, or even prenatal predicaments” (Feiler, pg. 25. HarperCollins. Kindle Edition.). Abraham is about seventy-five years old and can’t have children when he is introduced in the…
