ambitious goal to solve the daily problems of the Class of 2015 while also uniting the class despite over half of them leaving to study abroad at some point during the year. At our first Senate meeting of the year, I was the only senator to volunteer to take on the daunting task to try and solve the shortage of north campus parking that has plagued upperclassmen students for years. After scheduling meetings with three different campus administrators, I was able to come up with the idea to reallocate the parking on north campus to start allowing students to park in the underutilized north campus staff parking garage. In order for this plan to be implemented, I would need to collect, synthesize and present my data to prove to the staff and administration of Pomona that not only would my plan work but that it was also desperately needed. For two weeks, I went into both the student and the staff parking garages and counted how many cars and open spaces were in each lot. I did this three times a day for each garage to ensure that there wasn’t peak use in any one facility that would ultimately halt the effectiveness of my solution. I then complied all of this data and presented my findings to the school senate, the facilities department and the Executive Council of Pomona College.
