“Our Auntie Rosa” is a non-fiction biography written by Sheila McCauley Keys with Eddie B. Allen Jr.. Our Auntie Rosa is the remembrance of Rosa Parks and her accomplishments throughout her lifetime not only as the mother of the civil rights movements, but also the mother figure she had towards her loved ones. Keys who is Parks seven of the thirteen nieces and nephews took the initiative to document the family’s history and the most memorable memories of her aunt. While refusing her seat in the front, white section of the bus to a white man was the most memorable accomplishment to the public, Rosa Parks family goes into great detail of how she was a very quiet and soft spoken woman. The thesis of the book is that despite Parks having a gentle nature towards her family, yet she was quick to stand up for civil rights and fight for what she believed was right in the world. People who have a gentle nature and are introverted, can make a huge impact on society. Keys use of pictures whether it be a family recipe or a letter written from Parks evokes pathos, ethos and logos throughout the entire book that shows the qualities of Parks in the home to display the understanding, strength, compassion and courage she displayed in the public.
