twice its size and everybody stared at me. I got so nervous that I started fiddling with the paper in my hands and avoided eye contact with any of them. My teacher gave me the signal that I could start reading my paper and so I began, “H-h-hi my n-name is A-ang-gelica and I’m ei-eight ye-years old…” You might imagine how the rest of my speech went. Through it, all I did was stutter every single word on my paper. To my surprise I heard most of the classmates snickering and mocking me, but there was nothing amusing. After my presentation I walked back to my seat hunched over, in disbelief of what just happened. Throughout the rest of the day I didn’t say much, I kept quiet, afraid that they would continue to mock me. Overtime my speaking didn’t get any better, the laughs and mocks became an everyday thing. I never told anyone about it because I thought it was something temporary, I would eventually get over it and that it wouldn’t affect me in any way. Of courses I was completely, utterly wrong. It got to the point that my own sister, own blood, began doing what everybody else did. We were kids back then, I’m sure she meant no harm but it brought tears to my eyes her mockery towards me.…

Normally people would tell me that things don't come cheap and normally I would agree, but in this case I would have to make a honest exception. It is true that it can be challenging at times to always earn myself good grades. There is one specific club that I would like to speak out for while is called The Mock Trial club. The extracurricular activity provided me with a sense of comfort in front of and around my peers. It also pushed me harder to earn better grades as field trip privileges may…

accept the possibility, even when disproven by facts, that they could be wrong. People typically argue with feelings and beliefs without supporting their argument, but I was raised to dispute points differently. My parents taught me that nothing is more effective in an argument than the facts themselves. That lesson has always stuck with me. When I was younger, I realized that this it was what lawyers do; they present cases based upon factual evidence. As a kid I used to watch movies that…

example the job shadow and the mock trial. In English class we planned to do a project that will prepare us and how it would feel to work in our career field of choice. I partnered up with Rudy because we had almost the same interest in becoming law enforcers. I called up the same station here at Foothill asking them if we can shaddow one of their finest police officers. They did end up approving this job shadow for us so we were so excited. As we began the job shadow we introduced ourselves and…

I made the decision in high school to become a lawyer, but experiences in college motivated the decision to want to become a prosecutor. Though I did not know much, what I did know was that my sense of right and wrong that infuriated my relatives whenever I called them out for speeding or saying something without having any evidence to back it up, were clear indicators of where I was going to end up. During my time on the College 's Mock Trial Team, I realized exactly what type of lawyer I…

My junior year of high school was the busiest year of my education, especially when I joined school programs like the mock trial. It all happened during a beautiful evening at Rancho Cucamonga Supreme Court, where I had to present my first mock trail case in front of the judge. My colleagues Mariana, Greg, and Rosa were in my team for that evening representing the suspect in the case. Our client was facing three counts for possession of drugs. My goal for that evening was to drop the two major…

Student ID: 1330882 Paper 1: Russell and Strawson Introduction In this paper, I will compare and contrast Russell’s and Strawson’s accounts on definite descriptions, which are phrases of the form “the X” and denote some object. I will first reconstruct Russell’s account, which argues that that all definite descriptions are in reality a series of propositional statements and claims. I will then reconstruct Strawson’s account and claim that Russell’s account is flawed because it focuses…

The object that I chose to talk about that I use in everyday life is the mirror. I use the mirror everyday to see if my hair isn’t looking messy, to see if my teeth are white in the morning, and I also use it to see if there are any stains anywhere on my clothing. Its a very useful item in my life, that I couldn’t live without, since I’m always paranoid about how I look everyday, so I just always have to look in the mirror. I basically look at the mirror every time I leave my room. As…
