It was a typical warm and humid day in central Florida. There was a storm for-cast as usual, there was never a day without one. I sat there in my Mission President’s office waiting for my appointment with him. I had just gotten examined by the mission nurse and things were not looking good for my case of staying on my mission. My diagnosis was a severe case of Psoriasis, the most severe that the Missionary Department in Salt Lake City had ever seen in all the years of operation. I didn’t fully grasp that by this point, my mission was over. President Berry then looked me straight into the eyes and simply asked “How long have you been feeling this way Elder Hanson?” I explained to him that for about seventy-five…

stuck with me throughout many experiences in my life and have been a testament to me that patience is a virtue and an attribute of Jesus Christ. As disciples of Jesus Christ and members of His church we need to be patient in our trials, with others, and finally patient with ourselves. Patience is often described as the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. We live in a world of instant gratification. If we want something, we often want it…

“The Indians are once more free to be enslaved by the Spanish and Portuguese settlers.” This ironic statement made by Cardinal Altamirano (Ray McAnally), sets the tone for the beginning of the film, The Mission. The blunt, soullessness of this statement is not lost on the Cardinal, as he instructs his assistant to start the letter to the Pope over. In an interesting move, the film lets the viewer know the end of the movie before the movie itself has even really started. The film states in the…

Last summer my church and I went on a Mission Trip to Waterloo, Iowa. The Mission Trip took place from July 19, 2015-July 25, 2015.
