Do you think coal mining is worth the risk involved or not? Some people might think it is. But some might think it isn't. For me I think it isn't. I am going to tell you 3 ways I think coal mining isn't worth the risk. One long term health, two it causes site accidents, and three global warming. Those are the three ways I think isn't worth the risk. First, long term health is where miners suffer from medical problems caused by working in mines. For example, COPD and black lung disease are two common health issues among miners. Health problems are at a higher risk when strip mining techniques are used. So the entire surrounding community is at a higher risk of health problems. Then, I think it is not worth the risk because of the site accidents. The potential accidents while working in a mine include cave-ins, poisonous gas releases, explosions, and flooding. Each day there is a possibility that a miner will have an accident each day that he goes to work. In 2010 33 Chilean coal miners were trapped almost nearly half a mile underground for 69 days. For me I couldn't stay underground for 69 days. That's about 2 months, a week and 2 days.…
In August of 2010, thirty-three miners were trapped below the surface of the San Jose gold and copper mine in Chile. A main ramp had collapsed due to seismic activity and geologic instability in the area, and the miners were left trapped more than 2,000 feet underground. The mine itself had a long record of safety violations in the past, and had also been convicted of numerous fines and accidents throughout the years. For seventeen days, nobody heard from any of the miners. All they had was…
as currency, jewelry, medicine, awards, electronics, etc... Gold has attracted both wealthy and poor people. Humans started the process of gold mining 7000 years ago, between 4700 and 4200 BC. Miners risk their lives everyday working underground, to provide food on the table for their families and their children. The process of gold mining causes serious problems to our environment. Soon or later, these problems will affect the nature. The place that miners work in (underground) is very hot…

total of 283 million tons of coal were mined, providing about 64% of the state’s electrical production (Reese and Loughlin, 61).” Mining has caused severe environmental impacts ranging from the toxic chemicals seeping into the watershed, the altering of landscapes, and large amounts of waste (Reese and Loughlin, 61). New laws have been developed in order to reverse the negative trends from mining, which include the following: Abandoned Mine Land law, Open Cut Land Reclamation Act, Surface Mining…
“I don’t think I’m any different than a school teacher or a doctor we all have a job to do and were trained to do it” (Coal a Love Story). The Sago mining disaster is just one of the numerous mining disasters that were easily preventable. The miners that perished rely on coal for their income and many had no choice but to go into the industry. The world has a love-hate relationship with coal. It is often very “on again off again”. During World War II coal production was at an all-time high.…
or kingdoms. This is where the ability to turn invisible really comes in handy, because they can disappear if someone ventures into their domain that they do not want to associate with, they simply disappear. Unlike wood kobolds, if a mine kobold takes a liking to a human that travels into their domain, they will follow them home, often remaining invisible for the journey. They will then take up residence in the house and help with chores and in other ways, sometimes using their magic in…
