    David Alexander Clarke, better known as Sheriff Clarke, is the 64th Sheriff of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was born on August 21, 1956. He is one out of five children from Jeri and David Clarke Sr. Sheriff Clarke. He has been a resident in the City of Milwaukee ever since he was a little boy. Sheriff Clarke is a graduate from Marquette University High School. He was a member of the varsity basketball team. They won the state championship of private schools in 1973. Sheriff Clarke and his wife, Julie Clarke, both live in a home they built together in the northwest side of Milwaukee County. His Law Enforcement career began in 1978 at Milwaukee Police department (MPD).David Clarke has 38 plus years of in the law enforcement. During his decade plus as a patrol officer he has received many awards for many felony arrests. In 1989 David Clarke was promoted to a Detective. Nine months after being promoted he was selected for a Specialized Homicide Division. When he joined he was part of a team that investigated more than 400 homicide cases in a four year period. “ Milwaukee police Department (MPD) made arrest in more than 80% of homicides, well above the nation’s 60%,” (Milwaukee, 2016). In the year of 1992 Sheriff Clarke was promoted to a lieutenant of detective. After David was promoted to Lieutenant of Detectives he was assigned to a Criminal Investigation Bureau as a Shift Commander of Crime Against Property Division, the Violent crimes unit and again the Homicide Division.
