I was born and raised in Michigan. I grew up in an area known as Downriver, where I still reside today. My high school and the barn where I work/volunteer are both within 3 miles of my home, which is why moving to Michigan State University in East Lansing to join the other 50,000 undergraduate students was such a substantial change. I’ve always been adaptable and driven to succeed, so the adjustment to life in East Lansing was not a difficult one for me. Since I’ve been enrolled as a student at Michigan State University, I was granted the extraordinary opportunity to work at the Michigan State University Horse Teaching & Research Center while also being involved in both the Stock Seat Equestrian Team and the Horse Judging Team where I’ve been extremely successful. I am the current Lesson Captain of the equestrian team and plan to continue holding a board position for the rest of my time on the team. Not to be outdone, I was presented with a Reserve National Championship this year in Tulsa, Oklahoma while competing with the Judging Team at the U.S Arabian National Horse Show. I am a highly dedicated and passionate person who just happened to be lucky enough to find a niche in the horse world. Even when I’m not actively competing on these teams you can find me at the fundraisers and events that are put together…

When I was accepted to Michigan State University it was hands down the easiest decision to come here. I am one of the…

In the world we live in now it is very easy to overlook the importance of community. It not only gives a sense of belonging, but also forms a support group for individuals that fall on hard times. Volunteering through the Michigan State University Student Literacy Corps, demonstrated to me the need for community support in a child’s education. This organization tutors k-5 children in reading and writing, free of charge. Entering in this program I was told that the capital area is among the…

A current stressor in my life is moving in to my own apartment with three of my friends. To me this is considered a stressor in my life because last school year I was living at home and going to a community college. While at home I had my laundry done for me, my dinners cooked for me, had my own home computer, had my bathroom and dishes cleaned for me, and did not have to pay for rent. Also my community college was very small, so all of my classes were right by each other. There was also free…
