Many students choose band as a class, they have to pick an instrument to play. Going to a symphony might help them pick an instrument. At a symphony they usually play relaxing music. I listened to two pieces of Irish music the first was a piece pertaining to Irish marching bagpipes. Since this is marching music there is a constant snare drum going on as well as some sort of horn players playing in the background. “Earth’s Song” is a two movement suite for piano, violin, and viola. Each movement is inspired by some beautiful aspect of nature, and seeks to paint a picture of nature’s masterpieces through music. The first movement, titled “Morning Lake,” depicts a young couple rowing a boat on a calm lake. The couple sets up their rowboat right before a sunrise. The second concert to go to was on saturday November 4th at 8pm at Stony Brook University’s Staller center. The atmosphere of being at staller felt pleasant and relatable as I was not going to the symphony just for an assignment, but rather as a guest ready for a good show. One of the great things in today’s world is how many different ways one can express oneself. A few prime examples are writing, painting, debating, and music. The Cultural Event I attended was, “Claflin University Hispanic Heritage Month 2016 Kick-Off Program.” This program was held outside of the Café in the Panther Plaza on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. I attened the program by mayself and was sponcered by the Hispanic Heritage Month Committee. I found that the set up for the program was very relaxing. Today I attended a rehearsal event at East Los Angeles College. This particular event was a piano rehearsal by Andree Ann Deschenes and took place in the S2 recital hall on October 13 and lasted about one hour. She performed and discussed piano music by Darius Milhaud “Sausages do Brasil, op.67”, Ignacio Cervantes “Danzas Cubanas”, and Ernesto Lecuona “Andalucia Suite”. One interesting thing about this event is we had a special guest and was Anita Garay who she played percussion instruments.…
