    The Mary Celeste was an American merchant brigantine that had left to sail from New York to Genoa a month before she was found sailing alone in the Atlantic Ocean. “The ship was originally built at Spencer’s Island in Nova Scotia and named “The Amazon”” (“The Mary Celeste Fact Not Fiction”).
