    My mother tells the story how I fell in love with dance by starting by describing the first time I saw the Nutcracker ballet. I pointed to the stage and said, “I want to do that.” I was a toddler and I found my passion. From that moment all the way to my freshman year of college, I thrived on the dedication and joy that ballet brought to my life. Spending my dance career from age three to nineteen studying ballet, I decided to expand my dance training. Trying out for my college’s dance team provided a different approach to dance than ballet gave me. I was extremely under prepared for what physical dedication of being on dance team and being an athlete established in my life. Ballet is a very self-centered discipline and dance team is completely opposite. Being a part of team and relying on other individuals for support was new and rewarding. The physical and mental demands of practice for games and practice to compete in National Dance Association Collegiate completion wore me down, but my passion never let me falter in my pursuit. My first obstacle appeared, I broke my toe and was placed in a boot. I was prevented from dancing in games and the ultimate goal, the NDA competition. Though my first year on the team did not end as expected, I looked forward the next year being on the team. My pride took the brunt of my second obstacle. I did not make the team during my second year. I grieved for the mishap, and I changed my major because I believed that I was done dancing. I…
