    volunteers. Julia reported that since there were no volunteers, they had to pick her. She sat there for 6 days. After that, an organization called “Earth First!” as well as a few other organizations, and volunteers supported her. On December 10th, 1997 Julia Hill climbed 180 feet up into a Redwood by the name of Luna. She rested on two 6 foot by 6 food platforms. She didn’t stay there for 6 days. She stayed for 738 days. She did interviews on TV and the radio. She exercised, learned tons of survival skills. She even managed to get warmth by wrapping herself in a sleeping bag with and leaving only a small hole for breathing. She somehow accomplished all this while in Luna. She had a single burner propane stove and was able to hoist necessities up with a rope. She faced a plenty of hate from many groups of people. In the end, all her hard work paid off because in 1999 Pacific Lumber Co. decided to set an agreement to save Luna and all trees within a 200 foot buffer-zone. Julia Hill agreed to come down. The organization also gave the $50,000 they raised to the Pacific Lumber Co. but they actually ended up donating that money to Humboldt University's forestry department. After Luna she wrote a best-selling novel. She also wrote an environmental handbook and protested in Ecuador against an oil pipeline.
