    family is from a southern province in Angola called Huambo, and we all shared the same values and culture that is predominant on this province. People in southern provinces in Angola are well known because of their kindness and respectful character. They are like this because it is part of the culture in the south. The value of showing respect to people that that my family taught shaped me in a very positive way, but I often found a conflict between what I was taught and what I saw outside home. While I was growing up my parents always wanted to make sure that I would be respectful to women and never use violence against them. When I was two years old, my parents decided to move to move to a northern province, which is the capital Luanda that has a very different culture from the south. Even though we were living in city that has a totally, my parents agreed to teach us the southern culture in order to make sure that we would always be respectful to people. In my case, my parents’ main goals was to teach me that a man should always treat women with respect. I was taught at home that even if a woman slapped me in the face I should never respond with violence, whether physical or verbal. However, by the time I was growing up, I often found I different scenario from what I was taught at home, outside.
