their taxes while the middle class has to pay more than them. If the middle classes have to pay more than the higher class than what about the lower class? Do they have to pay even more and then use the last bit they have on their needs? If our economy is this way how are we going to sort this out? Then all we have to do is lower the middle class’s taxes a bit and then it would make more sense. Lower classes paying a low amount of taxes while middle has just a bit lower on its taxes and the higher class paying the most on taxes. This would make more sense since the higher classes get payed…

When I was younger I would consider myself lower middle class. My dad was the main provider in the family. My mom only worked to get out of the house. We had enough to eat. We had cable television, a small house; not enough bedrooms, not enough bathrooms. We had an Atari 2600. My richer friends had Intellivision or ColecoVision. We had the Commodore 64, and when I grew up my brother gave me his old Zenith PC. Mainly we had what we needed even though we never had enough personal space.…

Going into the class, I had no idea what to expect, this is now my favorite class. Throughout the semester so far we have talked about race in education, the achievement gap, poverty, and that is just a few topics we have covered so much. Until this class, I didn’t realize how many issues we have in the education system with those topics. I was honestly shocked because going to a catholic school my entire life, poverty and race issues were very little issues in the schools I attended and I want…

My voice is loud and strong against sexual harassment, from whatever gender. I can see and point out that even men and women who say they are feminist can be manipulative and sexist. I understand victim-blame, and hate it and will never do it again. Everyone deals with trauma in their own way, I am not to tell them how to express themselves, but just now to be a better listener. I am thankful for this class and feminism for changing my mind and opening my eyes to these and so many more ways…

While most people look for ways to be noticed and to stand out I would rather try to blend in. The part that I would agree on with being influenced by society is in how I interact with others. Growing up I was a quiet and rather shy individual. I was small for my age and not considered "good looking". Being raised in a lower middle class household where my dad was a small farmer and my mom was of the stay at home variety. I was the youngest of three boys. Society would dictate that being…

explores a theory that the American criminal justice system is set up in such a way that it is very detrimental to the lower class. The typical reaction to a theory like this is to assume that it is a conspiracy, but Reiman and Leighton make sure to include a section on why this is real, and not a tinfoil hat conspiracy. Their reasoning is that while the criminal justice system is failing to significantly cut down crime, the results of that failure are positive to the upper class, who are the…
