He may see, hear, or feel things completely different from others, and sometimes can’t communicate his unique experience. He may think other people are trying to hurt him. In the song “Papercut”, the lyrics clearly present a person who hears a voice in his head that controls him, or like a face inside watching him when he lies. This illusion is so intimate with the person that he feels it under his skin. It mocks him whenever he fails, points out all of his mistakes. He is baffled, not knowing what triggered these symptoms to manifest again. The lines “To have a voice in the back of my head Like a face that I hold inside A face that awakes when I close my eyes A face watches every time I lie A face that laughs every time I fall (It watches everything) So I know now when it's time to sink or swim That the face inside is hearing me Right beneath my skin” The lyrics express the concept of a person with a delusion of being controlled by a face which has a voice.
