    The lily is a flowering plant that belongs to the Liliaceae family. There are hundreds of different types of lilies that can be found mainly in the Northern hemisphere. Lilies mostly grow in temperate and tropical areas. There are certain types of lilies that are endangered because of habitat loss from the increased agriculture in urban development. Liles are prone to various bacterial, viral and fungal diseases. Lily flowers are dated as far back as 1580 B.C., images of lilies were an ancient role in mythology. Greeks believed that the lilies were sprouted from the milk of Hera, the queen of gods. Lilies are known to be the 30th wedding anniversary flower, and also the May birth flower.
