stories, one being about the Holocaust. She was shocked to find out that the students had never heard about the Holocaust. After learning about the students’ knowledge about the Holocaust, she came up with the idea to introduce them to the book of Anne Frank. The school had the books, but unfortunately her students being from low poverty weren’t allowed to use the books, because the school administrators felt that the books weren’t at the reading level of the students and would they would be…
In 1908 Frank Parsons developed a simplistic matching theory whereby he matched people with jobs according to their skills and the skill requirements of employers. This was the first attempt at producing a career guidance theory. The theory is that everybody is different and that these differences can be measured. The requirements of individual jobs can be measured and the two matched up. Consequently you get the right person for the right job. Most careers software programs such as kudos and…
The catastrophe of Cassie and the coat stealing boy caught my eye because Cassie was thoughtful and unselfish enough to help.( I like what you’re trying to do here, but it doesn’t work. State it more clearly.)This is when Cassie decides to help T.J. after all he had done; I believe that she was admirable for everything that she did but this was about friendship and kindness and those are really admirable things. Cassie had trouble in her life, being black, but she stayed strong and held on to…
I am happy. It is incredibly corny but that is all I really want. I want to be so happy my cheeks are burning because I can not stop smiling, I want that happiness were you have to bite your lips from smiling to much. I am a firm believer everyone deserves a couple euphoric highs of happiness at least a couple times in their life and I have not had many yet, but I think my wedding deserves one of these highs for both my husband and I. I have never been that Disney story book girl, therefore I do…
Anne Frank was a very sophisticated and bright young girl. She was influential to history because she was brave and helpful during the hard times of World War II. She helped us see what it was like during the holocaust since she logged everyday while in hiding. Anne was born on June 12th, 1929. She went to Jewish Lyceum, a school established by the German occupiers under the Amsterdam Jewish council. Anne harbored interest in literature; she was very vivid girl but not a prodigy. She was also…
This film used a lot of natural light but during more serious scenes the lighting is low-key. You can tell that all of the colors are dull and depressing. There are lot of uses of grey in the prison, from the concrete walls to the inmate’s shirts. Frank Darabont also shot a lot of the actors from the sides that were not exposed to the sunlight to assist in this feeling. This went both ways as during the more lifting scenes they would film where the sunlight would hit the actors. This is done…
Anne Frank: Knowing a Girl Through her Diary Anne Frank’s The Diary of a Young Girl is about her struggle to find her identity-not only as a teenage girl, but as a Dutch Jew who would eventually be persecuted for her faith. Anne Frank’s development from a giddy preteen into an introspective mature young woman as a result of being trapped as her religion is extraordinary. Anne Frank’s conflicts are rooted in her being trapped as a result of her religion. Her conflict begins once her father Otto…
Oh no! I overslept! I jumped out of bed and began to run around getting ready for school. Not again, I thought as I looked around for my backpack. My nap last night messed up my sleep schedule. I was so excited last night that I had trouble getting to sleep at bedtime. Oh yea! I remember now, it’s Winter break, no school today… Oh no! I overslept! I got dressed and ran down stairs. Mom was in the living room playing with Albert. Albert loved to read books. I say read when I really mean look at…
On September 24, 1924, Clarence Darrow Delivered a speech before Judge John Coverly. In this speech Darrow implies that two boys, Nathan Leopold, age 19 and Richard Loeb, age 18 should not get the death penalty for the murder of Bobby Franks. Darrow cleverly argues his point that the boys were taught that human was cheap due to war and inhumane emotions and also argues against inhuman methods and punishments of the American justice system. Though the boys are indeed guilty of the crime they…
In the beginning of the story, we get a glimpse into the future of the crew, as their ship,Endurance, gets wedged in between floes of ice that render her useless. This ends all chances of the 28 man crew, with Sir Ernest Shackleton as their leader, to complete their Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. In the beginning of their story Shackleton sets out to cross Antarctica, soon after a failed expedition to be the first to reach the South Pole, however, they’re beaten by a few months. It takes…
