restrictive guidelines being put into place though. Le Monde, a French daily newspaper that has a reputation for being the most widely respected newspaper in the world, published an article on July 27th of 2016 regarding this topic. In this article, Jerome Fenoglio, the director of Le Monde, informs readers of the decision they have made moving forward regarding their publications. This decision, is that Le Monde will no longer publish the names or photographs of those who commit terroristic acts. Fenoglio states their reasoning behind this is “to avoid possibly posthumous glorification effects” that typical reporting does (Fenoglio). This is a monumental step forward and due to Le Monde’s decision, both a French affiliate of CNN and another large newspaper La Croix have both joined them in their progressive step forward. While some newspapers have joined Le Monde’s in their decision, other journalists disagree. Mhamed Krichen who is a television anchor for the Arabic channel of Al Jazeera was quoted saying, “I don 't think this is a good idea because our job as journalists is to give the full picture as much as we can -- meaning words and also photos” (McKenzie). While I agree with Krichen’s perspective on the situation, are journalists really losing vital parts of the “picture” if they do not include the perpetrator’s name and photographs? Charlie Beckeet is another journalist who commented about the decision of Le Monde. Beckett is the director of Polis, a center for…

I brightened up when I neared my destination- a simple hut made of mud and clay,…

Imagine a world where you had to earn your place in society. You had limited resources and the rest of the world looked you down upon. There was no respect, no dignity, just survival.
