How long has the organization been in existence? Please briefly describe the history of the organization. Founder and CEO, Sheldon G. Adelson and his partners founded the computer trade show, ‘COMDEX’ in 1979. Ten years later, he had made enough money to buy the famous Sands Hotel and opened up a Sands Expo and Convention Center across from it. They then sold COMDEX in 1995 for over 800 million dollars in order to focus on developing the Sands properties and name. After a trip to Italy and some inspiration from his wife, Adelson decided that his goal was to combine the romantic atmosphere of somewhere exotic like Venice, and pair it with all the modern luxuries that only Las Vegas could offer.
