    one example of the chaos that reined after the war, for the nation was led by an inferior government with no tools to actually lead. It would regrettably take more than one drawback to finally move enough people to push for a type of government structure that was necessary to rule of the people. Policies encompassing both domestic and foreign problems would also escalate following the war. This would serve to be yet another case where the government held little to no authority. Congress, under the Articles of Confederation, could sign treaties and mange relations with the Indians. This was beneficial in yielding two important land ordinances, thus opening the West, and becoming arguably the only good things coming out of the Articles of Confederation. The Land Ordinance of 1785 would survey and grid the land into 36 sections while the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 would define the northwest territory into three to five states with Republican governments. While trade flourished, and the New World began to take a bigger shape, other diplomatic problems would arise. Foreign relations began to wear thin as both Spain and Great Britain kept their militarily post on American soil and began conspiring with the Native Americans. The foreign intruders claimed their right to be there due to Americas inability to pay of their prewar debts.
