them with innovative projects we diligently create. Holding a leadership position in the classroom proves I am willing to work hard, not just for my own education, but for the education of others as well. Additional to my leadership within the classroom, I also pursue leadership positions outside of the classroom. One example is Key Club, where my leadership pairs perfectly with my passion for helping others. Key Club stands as an organization that provides students opportunities of service to build character and leadership. In Key Club I serve my club as secretary. As secretary, I plan meetings, organize events, and coordinate with other Key Club members. Obtaining the position of an officer even provided me the opportunity to attend the Kiwanis Key Leader Program. During this program, I spent a weekend discovering what service leadership means and how I can utilize it daily in my school and community. Accompanying this occasion, Key Club allows me to volunteer often to improve my community. Our annual Riley’s Children’s Hospital garage sale remains as my favorite event thus far. For this event, Key Club members collect items as donations from community members to sell during the garage sale. Then customers purchase these items for the dollar amount they believe best corresponds to the items. All the monetary proceeds are donated to Riley, while the remaining donated items become donations to local organizations. I believe this event ranks as my favorite volunteer…

Last year I was selected by the Kiwanis to receive a scholarship for my dedication and hard work. Now that I have the opportunity to run for office, I would love to be able to give back to the Kiwanis through Key Club. For several years, I have been involved with helping the community. I have been dedicated to P.A.W.S. and the San Diego Humane Society, as well as helping the kids in the La Mesa Spring Valley School District. When I started with these organizations, I could not wait, especially…

Almost every month when I was little, I would have a different dream job. One month, I wanted to be a professional cheerleader and the next I wished to be a veterinarian. Once I started getting a little older, my dream jobs started to become more clear to me and I realized what I actually do want to be doing for the rest of my life, and that is helping to make a difference in other’s lives. Being a Pediatric Oncology Nurse has been my dream since I was in seventh grade, when my family and I were…

Emotions are a very difficult thing to convey using words. Simply telling someone how we feel never seem encapsulate the cacophony of different emotions that are coursing through our bodies. This is why we have created a more effective way of sharing our feelings with others: art. The sound of an orchestra as it begins to swell, or the sound of a singer's voice as she reaches the climax of her song give us more insight into their hearts than any number of words ever could. Unfortunately, art…

Among the variety of fraternities, sororities, and clubs that are open to all students of University of California, Riverside, I chose to join Circle K International, a Kiwanis affiliated organization of college and university students which promotes service, leadership and fellowship. Unlike the more well known affiliations within our campus, such as Pi Alpha Phi or Alpha Chi Omega, Circle K of University of California, Riverside does not receive the recognition it deserves, nor the prestige it…

place for escape and fun. It was designed to facilitate people's lives by giving them all the features the park has. Infrastructure that shapes and facilitates daily life (Smith 2016). Also, it was designed to be a symbol of the community. I believe there is no one in the Metairie area or surroundings that has not been in this park, and has not fallen in love with it. Lafreniere Park not only gives the community accommodations to do activities, but it also hosts events which the community enjoy…

my town and my global community. The one thing that identifies a community member, is their contribution to said community. One of my absolute favorite communities I belong to is this beautiful tiny town, nestled deep in the mountains. Growing up here, I have the utmost respect for this perfect place, and I feel it has been my duty to contribute and give back to this community. I hope that my contributions to Glenwood Springs can be enumerated to more than one simple act, however, my involvement…

History of Famous Hoosiers There are many famous Hoosiers in Indiana. One of my favorite famous Hoosier would have to be Florence Henderson. The reason I choose Florence out of the other 50 was that she played in the Brady Bunch and that was my favorite TV show. I would say that Florence Henderson’s greatest accomplishment would be starting in the Brady Bunch or possible making her greatest hits. Florence Henderson played Carol Brady the mother in Brady Bunch. Florence Henderson embodies the…
