Though the William sisters have been resilient through it all, all the bad calls and negative responses from their audiences after they would display a spout of anger, these interactions have distanced their sense of belonging to the U.S. as professional woman’s tennis players. After playing at tournaments like Indian Wells which is a tournament located in Indian Wells, California where they were they booed and called racial slurs while the crowd cheered on a woman’s tennis player Kim Clijsters who was from Belgium to win, it makes sense that they would lose their sense of belonging to the country they play for. It would be very hard for me to claim to be a tennis player for the U.S. if my family and I are booed, called racial slurs, and threatened while the crowd is in favor of a woman who is from a completely different country. I also felt that she distanced herself again after she played in the U.S. Open finals against Sam Stosur who is from Australia on September 11, 2011. As Rankine stated “Some speculate Serena especially wants to win this Grand Slam because it is the tenth anniversary of the attack on the twin towers. It’s believed that by winning she will prove her red-blooded American patriotism and will once and…

Here are two magnificent pieces of literature. One is a poem which is called “If-” and the other a memoir, that is called “Kipling and I.” The poem “If-” talks about how you learn to be a better person through life lessons, morals, and endurance. Both texts insinuate that success comes from commitment and a true sense…

I realized that in order for me to start the next chapter in my life I have to quit “re-reading” the last one. Which is why I deleted all my social media accounts. I noticed myself putting more time into face book or Instagram then I did my relationship with you and my family and also my school work. I also knew that if I kept those accounts I would sooner or later ruin my relationship with you because it is way too much drama and also because the first sign of an unhealthy relationship is a…
