Governments do share a common trait with God. The idea of a government is something that has been around since the dawn of man and has been discussed and debated about for about just the same number of years. One form of discussion is through satire like South Park. "Let Go Let Gov" is an example of an episode of the show that makes a point about people's thoughts about the government and certain actions of the government. The creators take a stance against those who are too doubtful of the government and those too trustful of the government as well as taking a quick jab at organized religions, specifically Catholicism. “Let Go Let Gov” of South Park begins with Eric Cartman being offended that his privacy is compromised when Kyle expresses annoyance at him for speaking obnoxiously loudly into his phone with the speaker phone on. Cartman then becomes paranoid that the government is spying on his every move. He first plans a secret rally. He then posted a video on his blog saying, “There’s gonna be a big rally to tell the government: stop gathering information on us. Gonna tweet you all the details, but keep quiet cuz it’s top secret” (Parker and Stone). In addition Cartman starts using a machine wired to his brain that speaks his thoughts out loud and posts his thoughts on the internet. Then he goes on to infiltrate the NSA in order to reveal the NSA’s secrets to avenge the violation of his privacy. Through Cartman and the devices of irony and hyperbole…

Who Am I ? “Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” Dr. Seuss once wrote this poem which was music to my ears growing up. It fascinated me to think that in this gigantic world filled with 7 billion people that I was the only Amanda A Laryea to ever walk its surface. Until about 8 years later on a random Facebook search, I found about four other individuals who share my name. However, our similar names do not connote similar personality…

Before leaving for school, I sit down and turn on my favorite show, Spongebob Squarepants. In this episode, Spongebob is being bullied, an incident that many students like me and my friends can relate to, at Boating School by a larger fish named Flatts. Annoyed and frustrated, Spongebob lets the bully have his way, and since he is a sponge, the bully’s physical abuse doesn’t affect him, the bully becoming tired and run-down. During the whole episode, Spongebob stays strong which teaches the…

I always thought I had limits. It all started when my sister and I used to draw human figures when we were both in elementary school. She drew pretty one while I somehow managed to turn mine into Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants. When I asked her how she drew them so perfectly, she merely shrugged and said that she became good when she entered third grade. From then, I waited for the third grade to come. In Korea, there is a tradition of eating a bowl of rice cake soup on New Year 's Day and…
