million and various notable companies such as Coca-Cola, 84 Lumber, Google, Ford, Buick, Febreze, and Airbnb played their advertisements. What sets super bowl ads is that they tend to be a class apart from your everyday commercials. Since they pay a whopping price just to be featured, they must make their money’s worth by producing the best in 30 seconds. This is when creativity and aesthetics come into play. There are different styles of commercials. This year the most popular ads used narrative style, celebrity endorsements, and quick editing. Halo effect, generally associated with celebrity endorsements, is the rise/fall of a product based on the celebrity career fall/rise. This year, the successful endorsements were Justin Bieber endorsing T-Mobile and Justin Timberlake endorsing Bai’s new drink. Quick editing is when commercials have rapid cuts displaying different situations, people and narrating different stories at the same time. Ford advertised using this style. The idea behind the advertisement was that when people are stuck Ford will help them out. This was represented in a humorous way showing a cat’s head in a box, a man locked out of the house, a woman stuck in the highway traffic and so on. The narrative style is telling a story. The very controversial 84 lumber advertisement tells the harsh reality of immigrants though a mother and daughter walking across the land (to get to the United States). Whether these styles work or not, depend on the content. The…

There are few things I know for certain in this world. The sky is blue, everybody dies eventually, and I am gay. My parents were way more accepting of it than I expected. After spending nearly half my life in the closet, I let it slip out one night. Bowling, of all things. You have to understand— I’m the world’s worst bowler. One of the songs that brings be back to a moment in time is “Can’t Stop The Feeling” by Justin Timberlake.
