From reading The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, I would add a piece of technology that would help Jim Smiley win more bets with his frog. I would add a device that would be capable of measuring jumping height, force from takeoff, and the landing force. This way Mr. Smiley could go out and gather frogs and test them until he singled out the best frog for him to use in his bets. Mr. Smiley taught the frog that he caught in the story on how to jump higher, but if someone else were to have a more athletic frog than Mr. Smiley he could’ve easily been beaten because Smiley didn’t measure his frogs height from jumping and didn’t really know for a fact that he was the highest jumping frog in Calaveras County. What my device would consist of would be a laser beam, a pressure measurement plate, and a magnet recipient bar. The device would be connected to a sort of graphing machine that would log the force of the take off and landing, it would also log the height at which the laser beam was shot into the magnet recipient. The laser beam would shoot where the frogs momentum shifted from up to down, the laser beam would then instantly shoot into the magnet…

The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County has many similarities between the play and the story, but there is also quite a few differences. I would like to start off by naming the similarities and differences in the plot. One major difference that I noticed right away was that there was no story within a story during the play. In the story Mark Twain approaches Simon Wheeler about Leonidas W. Smiley, but instead he is told a story about Jim…

The Jumping Frog of Calaveras County by Mark Twain has definitely been one of my favorite short stories that I’ve read. The story was well put-together, let alone the humor that was added provided a great role in the plot. The play on the other hand really sealed the deal for me. I loved how the actors developed the story to an attention-keeping performance that had me giggling inside. Although the play and the story were very similar, there are some very distinct differences. When I think of…

Most movies present characters with supernatural abilities that humans would never be able to do (have), yet in the movie Divergent, the character Tris is surprisingly relatable to the viewers. In this seemingly Utopian society, all members must pick one of only five different factions, to which they must remain in for the rest of their life. The scene I chose shows Tris going through the Dauntless ritual after she chose them as her faction. She ends up climbing structures, getting onto a full…
