Reed Erdman Ms. Dowling Advanced English 9, Hour 4 October 23, 2014 “The Monster” Lyrics Analysis The song that I have chosen for a lyrics analysis is “The Monster” by Eminem featuring Rihanna. “The Monster” was released on October 29, 2013 as part of the “Marshall Mathers LP 2” album. The songs theme is about Eminem trying to escape his troubled past but it will always still with him and he can never escape from it. The song is about the monster that is inside of Eminem's head and he will never be able to get away from. The deeper meaning behind it is Eminem who had a troubled life being from the poorest area of Detroit where he would participate at rap battles at the club near his trailer home, wants to escape his drug addicted past self who didn't give enough time for his family. Eminem uses metaphors to describe his past and present self. “Fame made me a balloon cause my ego inflated and I blew.” Is him referencing when he first became famous and moved away from Detroit to L.A. Where he then made records with Dr. Dre who he references in the song and also references how he didn't want to be seen in public. “The thing I love's killing me.” Its comparing his struggles and how his rapping is affecting them but he loves rapping because it was something to ease all his stress while he struggled with life and doesn't want to give it up even though his family suffered while he was always gone at work. Eminem uses rhymes throughout the song and some have deeper meaning then…

Most of the early revivals started in areas where the Spanish settled first, then started to migrate from there. Earlier revivals were free to adapt to American cultures, but in the early 20th century, these modifications and alterations were more true to the historical style. These differences were mostly caused by regional expansion, and caused different “styles” to be blended into American Architecture. The Ponce de Leon Hotel in St. Augustine, Florida was completed in 1888 and was one of…

bright light would follow that felt like jelly. Day two we woke up to eat breakfast, and then immediately got to go snorkeling. I had never been snorkeling before so this experience mesmerized me. We were swimming just above a coral reef, and were able to pick up animals like a sea cucumber, starfish, and snails. After an exhausting morning of snorkeling, we got out of the water freshly sunburnt to visit the Museo de Arte de Ponce. This was a really cool experience because you got to learn a…
