chosen "Stravinsky: The firebird, Finale" and "Duke Ellington: The "C" Jam Blue". These two differed in a variety of things. For "Stravinsky: The firebird, Finale" I felt like it was more like orchestra music while "The "C" Jam blue" was more like jazz. I felt like the pitch for " The Firebird Finale" was more high than "The C Jam". Also the dynamics for " The Firebird Finale" fluctuated a lot in tone. For the instruments I heard the violin , flute, horns, piano and many more that I quite…

When it comes to music, it has a different meaning for everyone. For some it is a sense of expression, for others it is a calming tactic and so on. Personally, I have never been extremely musically inclined. I have never been in band or choir, nor have I ever learned to play an instrument to my full intent. Although, I love to belt out along with the radio in the car, even though I may be a little tone deaf. Even though I may not have a physical connection with music, that certainly has not…

Overall the concert was amazing. I sometimes go to orchestrated concerts and the performance that I have seen specifically the NYU Symphony and the performances that these students did, was overall really great and flawless. My favorite piece by far and not because I’m instrument bias was, “The Joyful Escape”. The mini solo the clarinetist had was amazing and she didn’t mess up at that part at all. From “Two Chorales” to “Iona Alma mater” that clarinet played as smooth as it can ever be. I…

sense, listening and writing about jazz music was my biggest headache from the beginning of class. It is hard to use words to describe wordless music that is being heard. Yet I still learned the origin and the evolution of jazz music, its African American background and the different style it changes into.
