By my troth, it is no addition to her wit—nor no great argument of her folly, for I will be horribly in love with her.” Act 3 scene 2.Throughout the play everyone is either gossiping or overhearing someone else gossip. Gossip occurs frequently in the play. Most of the gossiping that occurs in the play is positive, but there are some negative aspects that occur. The positive gossiping that happens involves Don Pedro, Leonato, Ursula and Hero. When Benedict overhears Leonato and Don Pedro talk about Beatrice. Then Beatrice overhears Ursula and Hero talk about Benedict. A negative time when gossiping occurs is with Don John and his henchmen. In the real world gossiping is always negative. Whether it be social media wars, reality television or celebrities feuding. Gossiping in the real world always lead to a negative time. Obviously the play and the real world are two different areas in gossiping, and previously stated positive happens in the play a lot. Benedict and Beatrice have argued for the longest time. But everyone knows that Benedict and Beatrice are deeply in love. Especially their friends, Don Pedro and Claudio. So they decide to come up with a plan to get Benedict and Beatrice together.
