Once upon a time, an adorable jaguar was born in the Amazon rainforest. The news spread throughout the forest and friends of the jaguar family came by to give their best wishes. “Wish this baby will run as fast as your father,” said the sloth trying to balance himself while giving out his leaves as a welcoming present. “Bless this baby will have great vision as your mother,” yelling from the back, the leopard family stormed in as usual. One by one they gave their best wishes to the little jaguar, the blessing ended when the moon finally came out. “Thank you for all your blessing, we are pleased to have you here. Please enjoy yourself and have fun,” said the jaguar’s father, pointing at the food and water prepared. The crowd partied and left the next day. The little jaguar was the pearl of the family. During the day, the mother taught the jaguar how to stay away from predators while the father was outside hunting. At night, they would chase each other, trained the little one to be the best hunter. However, the honeymoon did not last long, the little jaguar remained little when her pals have already grown up and were strong enough to prey single-handedly. The jaguar parents did not give up, the mother devoted all her time to teach the little jaguar how to be great and the father hunted even harder to make sure his little princess got enough…

Both of these uses of figurative language gives the setting a dark and eerie feel. The majority of the foreshadowing occurs at the beginning of the story when Rainsford is talking to Whitney. Rainsford tells Whitney that the jaguar…
was one of my first hands-on experiences working with animals. While I interned at Southwick’s Zoo, I had the opportunity to shadow a different department. I chose to shadow the hoof stock department, which typically encompasses only hoofed animals. However, Southwick’s hoof stock department also encompasses any animal that is not under the domain of the bird, reptile, or primate departments. By shadowing the hoof stock department, I was able to observe a jaguar up close with a small, but safe…

The president, one of the few survivors, has given me a vital assignment. He told me, "You are our last chance. We need a plant that can save the people who have been bitten, by allowing the body to be numbed so we can…
stone and perhaps it was for the Olmecs as well. The description of the object states that it was used by “chief or shaman.” Since this object is reserved for high-ranking figures, then jade must be a valued material. In addition, jade would have to be hard enough to carve lest it flake. The Axe shows a human head combined with an animal head. In a sense, that says that the two are merged. Taking that a step further, the Axe must have the strengths of both a human and a jaguar. These felines…
