    the rescue mission seems to be in peril. Leia thinks on the fly and ends up saving everyone from the Imperial forces closing in. She tells Han and Luke, her rescuers, “somebody has to save our skins.” Even after successfully escaping, Leia remains on guard saying “they let us go…it’s not over yet.” Her persistence that danger was imminent eventually saved the rebellion as they were able to prepare for the Death Star’s arrival. If she were to have listened to her companions, they would have remained contempt with their escape and would not have been prepared for conflict. She is again placed in a damsel situation when her rescue of Han from Jabba the Hut is foiled. She is imprisoned by Jabba and treated as a slave. Instead of waiting to be rescued by Han or Luke, she takes matters into her own hands and ends up killing the retched Jabba the Hutt in the process. Leia demonstrates repeatedly that she can take care of herself. These situations that Leia seems to get herself into, are not always coincidental, and are even sometimes by designed. Early in her career she is tasked with delivering aid to rebels on the planet Lothal. She develops a plan to make it seem as though the rebels stole her ships and supplies, rather than her aiding in their efforts. She instructs the rebels to “follow my lead and try to keep up,” but very quickly realizes that her plan was not going to work. She owns up to her mistakes and apologizes saying “I’m sorry, this was my plan.” In conjunction with…
