    In her article, “Is Red Wine Really Good for You?”, Krisha McCoy kicks around some positives and negatives of drinking red wine. She begins with talking about how wine or any alcoholic beverage can and will have some sort of effect on your health. She states that although there is some evidence supporting the fact that moderate consumption of wine will benefit your health, some health professionals continue to warn people away from alcohol. All coming together to make a complicated mess and still not coming to any real factual conclusion. McCoy brings up the fact that antioxidants in wine called polyphenols, make up the main beneficial interest of wine. Polyphenols are found very concentrated on the skins of grapes which leads to the consumption of antioxidants by drinking wine. She quotes Georges Halpern, MD, PhD, saying that a high concentration of polyphenols seems to have a protective effect on our cardiovascular systems and maybe other systems as well. McCoy even states that the American Heart Association thinks that wine may help protect the heart. However she states, “Researchers studied Italians who consumed large amounts of the polyphenol resveratrol and found it did not protect them from developing heart disease or cancer.”…
