    Italian City-States Essay Florence, Venice and Genoa were the three most successful city-states during the Renaissance period. The Renaissance was a rebirth that occurred throughout most of Europe. However , the changes that we associate with the Renaissance first transpired in the city-state of Florence. The city’s strategic location, climate and leadership all made Florence a model of the Renaissance culture. These factors are what led me to my decision, that Florence was the most influential and powerful city-state. The city’s location was a key aspect for the access of agricultural products and various resources.
